Following with the overarching approach for knowledge management & reproducible research for coral reef monitoring, the skills we have been developing through this data course provide a useful framework for combining standardised, formatted data sets, visualisations of status & trends and spatial representations into a report.
As the same code can be used for processing updated data sets
(e.g. as part of a seasonal or multi-year monitoring programme),
learning the basics of project reporting using rmarkdown
can greatly reduce the work required for producing routine reports.
The other benefit of including the raw data, formatting & standardisation, visualisation and reporting into a single repository also means that all aspects of the monitoring data processing and disemmination products are located in a single place!
In this module, we will use outputs and skills developed in previous
modules to produce a simple report and provide an introduction of using
rmarkdown
for other reporting tools (e.g. slide
presentation, wiki documentation).
This module should take approximately ~1 hour.
